Val Verde County Historical Commission

Thank you to all who attended the VVCHC meeting.
It was long meeting, but we got a bunch of things moving again.

Very quickly we have a Facebook page. We will put news and events on it.

We are also going to build a new section of this website--
for teachers and school-age children and youth.

Keep an eye this space--
we will be dedicating the markers for Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church and Del Rio Bank of Trust soon.

The Val Verde County Historical Commission (VVCHC) is a branch of the Val Verde County government mandated by the State of Texas in Section 318 of Local Government Code.

In accordance with State law, the VVCHC promotes history themed education programs for Val Verde County residents and visitors.

This website includes the texts of the historical markers authorized by the Texas Historical Commission (THC) and VVCHC, the texts of tourist brochures that summarize parts of Val Verde’s history, and documents gathered and compiled for other research projects. The website also includes pages through which members of the community can share their stories of Val Verde County’s history.
