On Thursday, October 23rd the VVCHC will meet at 5:30 at Border Federal Credit Union.
Willie Braudaway will give a program about family history research.

 

 

On August 16th we dedicated the historical marker for
Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church.

The Val Verde County Historical Commission (VVCHC) is a branch of the Val Verde County government mandated by the State of Texas in Section 318 of Local Government Code.

In accordance with State law, the VVCHC promotes history themed education programs for Val Verde County residents and visitors.

This website includes the texts of the historical markers authorized by the Texas Historical Commission (THC) and VVCHC, the texts of tourist brochures that summarize parts of Val Verde’s history, and documents gathered and compiled for other research projects. The website also includes pages through which members of the community can share their stories of Val Verde County’s history.
